There was a sense for a time Thursday morning that something was about to happen that might return bowling to the days when proprietors and the American Bowling Congress/Women’s International Bowling Congress engaged in great conflict over lane condition rules.
That conflict ended when ABC essentially caved in the mid-1980s in the face of proprietors threatening to start their own national membership organization and that ultimately led to the end of meaningful lane conditioning rules....
