On a condition so difficult that the cut took just a 195 average, Kyle Sherman averaged more than 243 to lead Saturday’s qualifying in the GIBA Fusion Realtors/Community First National Bank Open at Maple Lanes in Waterloo, Iowa.
Sherman, a right-hander from the St. Louis area, totaled 1,707 for seven games, giving him a stunning 144-pin leader over second-place qualifier Eric Fritton, a lefty from the Milwaukee area.
