Update: In this news release on Aug. 4, 2016, the NCAA announced that it has approved the proposal and that the new standards for the oil ratio application can range from 1.5-1 to 3.5-1 with recommended ranges from 2-1 to 3-1. This part of the release heartens this proponent of transparency with lane patterns: "Host teams and facilities must communicate to visiting coaches at least 10 days in advance about what oil pattern is going to be applied."
