That word that should never be used in bowling is being used again by a major bowling entity.
Oxford Dictionaries defines amateur as, “A person who engages in a pursuit, especially a sport, on an unpaid basis.”
So by definition, once you start competing for scholarship funding as a kid you no longer are an amateur, and every adult who wins prize money in leagues or tournaments certainly does not meet the definition of amateur.
