I've said for years that bowling is far tougher mentally than other individual sports like golf or tennis because of the much bigger luck factor. Tennis has almost no luck factor, and golf has only a small one: a ball can, for example, hit a tree and bounce back into the fairway, but you rarely see a perfectly struck putt roll into the bottom of the cup and come back out.
