I have to offer a mea culpa of sorts on the USBC's new color lane patterns. While the pros broke several scoring records in the PBA Pepsi Red, White and Blue Open last month, that really shouldn't be grounds for scorn because what happened was pretty much what USBC (and anyone with any knowledge of the game like me) should have expected, and the patterns are not intended for a professional level of competition on a regular basis....
