Mark Henry and Mark Henry might be the only two Mark Henrys in Halls of Fame in the world.

One is just a tad better known … or maybe more.

Mark Henry is a Madison Area USBC Hall of Famer best known for running the hugely popular Henry Hitter 3-Man Classic tournament that will celebrate its 35th year in December.

Mark Henry is a World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer once known as the World’s Strongest Man.

They came together Sunday afternoon at the Madison Mallards game at Warner Park, although not quite the way it was originally planned by bowler Mark.

Wrestler Mark was to have flown in Saturday night for an appearance before Sunday’s Mallards game, but thanks to the CrowdStrike software screwup that snarled global air travel, he didn’t make it until the game had already started.

Bowler Mark made two belts along the lines of WWE championship belts that celebrated their Hall of Fame memberships and presented one to wrestler Mark.

They were to have met for a few minutes before the game, but instead got in line with other fans after wrestler Mark made it to Warner Park.

“I decided that since we are the only Mark Henrys in Hall of Fames that I could find, I wanted to make something special to commemorate our meeting, and present it to him in our interview,” Bowler Mark told 11thFrame.com. “I worked with Champion Awards and we designed a one-of-a-kind belt that signifies our achievements.

“My wife and I waited in the hot sun for over an hour to get 3 minutes to quickly present his award. He was quite stunned when I plopped down the two impressive belts and told him one of them was his. When I said I was in a bowling hall of fame he perked up and said, ‘I love to bowl. My high game is 182.’

“After taking a picture with both our belts, he told me that it was really cool and wants to post a picture of it on his Fanpage on the  internet. Mine will go in my man room with a framed picture of our meeting.”

Henry said for 30 years when he meets someone for the first time, he gets asked four questions:

Hey, do you know there is a pro wrestler named Mark Henry?
Yes!  Are you really the strongest man in the world?  Yes I am!
Have you ever met Mark Henry pro wrestler?  No! ( I get to say yes next time.)
Are you related to Mark Henry? My answer was always the same. “Yes. He is my younger brother from another mother.”

By coincidence, a 2-hour biography of wrestler Mark debuted on A&E on Sunday night.

“If anyone has a chance to see a rerun of it, I would really recommend it,” bowler Mark said. “He is truly a sport icon, and a real good guy.”

In honor of meeting wrestler Mark, bowler Mark will have a wrestling theme for the 2024 Henry Hitter.

“Every 5 years in my Henry Hitter 3-Man Classic I do something fun,” bowler Mark said. “This year I am definitely going to have a wrestling theme. I can see it now: COMING DECEMBER 14TH AT BOWL-A-VARD LANES — ‘HITTERMANIA’ ”
