Back in April, USBC said its initial research data using its automated Bowlscore ramp showed that strike percentages on string pinsetter bowling under its upgraded specifications were 7.1% less than with traditional “free fall” machines. That led USBC to certify the upgraded string pinsetters in a separate category, while saying it would conduct more scoring studies with an eye to making a Sport bowling style average conversion system for string pinsetters.
