Baseball pitcher John Burkett was drafted in the sixth round in 1983 by the San Francisco Giants, had the proverbial cup of coffee with the Giants late in the 1987 season, pitching six innings, then made it back to the Giants in 1990, starting a career that lasted until 2003. The right-hander known more for his off-speed pitches than fastball finished with a 166-136 record and 4.31 ERA.
