A year after losing the title match to Tom Hess, Nick Pate edged Nathan Michalowski 265-259 on Saturday to win the ninth annual 2-pattern La Crosse Open presented by Brunswick at Pla-Mor Lanes.
Tony Oliva was third and Brent Neumann fourth. The top four prizes were $1,300, $1,000, $800 and $700.
Oliva opened the stepladder by beating Neumann 237-185, then fell to Michalowski 223-205 in the semifinal match.
