Chris Pollentier and Brittany Pollentier tied the USBC mixed doubles record of 1,647 as Chris slammed an 876 series Friday night at Middleton Sport Bowl, missing Dan Swenson’s Madison Area USBC record 878 with a 7-count on his final shot.
Under team records at the USBC records here, Shannon Pluhowsky and Dino Castillo are listed as having the highest mixed doubles series with 1,647 on July 29, 2012.
On Friday night at Sport Bowl, Brittany Pollentier added 771 to husband Chris' 876 to tie that mark.
The series did break Wisconsin's doubles record of 1,643, which was owned by Chris and his brother Seth Pollentier. As I detailed in this story, Chris fired 847 and Seth added 796 in the Ten Pin Alley Fifth Quarter League on Jan. 3, 2017.
Chris opened with a perfect game, started his second game with three strikes, left a 4-pin he converted, then rolled 19 more strikes, putting him one final strike from 879 (300-279-300) and 1,650. The 7-count left him with 297 and 876 for the third-highest series in MA-USBC history, a pin behind Jim Fosdick's 877 (298-279-300) at Dream Lanes on Dec. 29, 2010.
“Got slow on last shot, through the nose and left 3-4-6,” Chris said in a message. “That last shot was the only one I was truly nervous on.”
Swenson on March 26, 2009, fired 878 (290-289-299) to break the prior record of 868 (278-300-290) rolled by Jay Heinzelman at the old All-Star Lanes on Feb. 26, 2002.
Here was Chris' Facebook post after the 876:
“It’s been an up-and-down year, but tonight was truly a special night of bowling. 300-279-297-876 with the Roto Grip RST X-1. And to share it with Brittany who had 257-258-256-771 with her Storm Bowling Proton PhysiX. 1647 for team series! All I can do is shake my head. Thanks John and Cher Breunig at #CoachzProShop for all your support and trust in us, and Doene Storm Moos for the best equipment in the game!!

Brittany, who annually leads MA-USBC women in most scoring categories, also could have had 800 if not for a solid 8-pin in the middle of a string of strikes and a few 10-pins, her husband said, adding that she “could have had a TON more!”
The 876 also broke Bob Richardson's Sport Bowl record of 857 rolled Feb. 14, 2020.
The 2020-21 bowling season will be one most people will want to forget, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Chris Pollentier on Friday night made it one he will always remember.
