A Petersen Classic like no other due to the COVID-19 pandemic now may have a winner in a way like no other — at least in modern times. Detroit area bowler Harold Hughes fired a 1,589 on June 27 on the opening weekend of the 2020 Petersen Classic and continues to lead through Aug. 9, according to the Petersen standings here. Should he hold the lead through the tournament’s home stretch, Hughes would be the first player to win with a score shot in the opening weekend in my memory....
