Hall of Famers Chris and Lynda Barnes will compete in the 18th annual Junior Hall of Fame Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at Bowlero Wauwatosa, the JHOFT announced in this post on its Facebook page.

And E.J. Tackett, who is likely to be named PBA Player of the Year for the third time later this year, also will be at the JHOFT, according to this Facebook post.

The field again will be 24 scratch and 40 handicap teams for the popular tournament that annually awards $10,000 in scholarship funding. Tournament director Shannon Labinski said on Saturday morning that just eight spots remained open in the scratch division.  

The entry fee is $100 and spots are held based on paid entries in the order received. Payment details are in the PDF of the entry form attached to this story.

Entries received by Oct. 1 receive a free JHOFT shirt, donated by I AM Bowling and H5G who both are sponsoring the tournament.

"I am thrilled to see two powerhouse companies in the custom jersey business come together as main sponsors for this great event!” Labinski said. “H5G and I AM Bowling are both longtime supporters of the tournament."

New for this year is a JHOFT All Tournament team that will recognize and award the top five scratch bowlers and top 10 handicap bowlers.

With a full field, there will be $10,000 in scholarship prizes. First in both scratch and handicap will be $1,000, a 900 Global ball, a semi-custom I AM Bowling jersey, and JHOFT trophies.

Two youth bowlers (one in handicap and one in scratch) will win a $250 scholarship before any shots are rolled, thanks to the Bowl4Life Foundation, headed by Chuck and Deborah Gardner. More on how these Bowl4Life scholarships will be awarded will be announced closer to the JHOFT, Labinski said.

The tournament is sponsored by 900 Global, I AM Bowling, H5G, the Milwaukee Area USBC and Hall of Fame, Ten on the Deck Productions, Bowl4Life, and the PBA – the tournament is a PBA Junior Affiliate tournament and features PBA Junior Star awards.

Phil Brylow & $2 Phil - Ten On The Deck Productions again will webcast the scratch division of the tournament.

Youth bowlers who compete in handicap get 85 percent based on a 220 average. Adults bowl scratch.

The youth female and male bowlers rolling the most pins over their average during qualifying in the handicap division will win the $50 Adam Schultz and Jennifer Krueger Scholarship Awards. Scratch prizes will be awarded to the highest 4-game series male and female in the scratch division.

The Chuck Eberhardt Team Award will be given to the top qualifying team in each division.

In scratch, there will be four games of traditional bowling and four games of team Baker format, with the top eight teams advancing to Round 2.

In Round 2, Those eight teams will bowl will bowl four more team Baker games, with pins carrying over, and the top four teams then will advance to a stepladder finals.

The stepladder format will be 2-game team Baker format matches.

In handicap, there will be three games of traditional bowling and four games of team Baker format, with the top 20 teams advancing to Round 2.

In Round 2, those 20 teams will bowl will bowl four more team Baker games, with pins carrying over, and the top four teams then will advance to a stepladder finals.

The stepladder format will be 1-game team Baker format matches.

The team Baker format has the adult bowling frames 1, 4, 7 and 10 and the youths bowling 2-5-8 and 3-6-9.

In the handicap division, handicap is 85% of 220 for individuals and for Baker games is 60 percent of the total youth handicap per game.

Here is my story on last year’s tournament.

The ninth annual Celebrity Charity Bowling Event again will be held the night before (Saturday, Nov. 9) at Classic Lanes Greenfield, with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and the Down Syndrome Association the beneficiary charities.

The event sponsored by 900 Global, I AM Bowling, and Classic Lanes Greenfield will offer $2,000 in prizes based on 16 4-person teams: $600 for the top scratch team and winning handicap team, and $460 for second in handicap and $340 for third in handicap.

Handicap is 80% based on a 220 average.

The entry fee is $160 per team. The lineage is donated by Classic Lanes Greenfield.
